The image you see when you click on this post fits perfectly (and we happen to sell it online at thepinkstore.com)and you’ll see why by the time you get to the end. 🙂
We’ve been waiting and working and working and waiting for this day to come! Our new re-launched website, Thepinkstore.com, is pretty and classy and all things pink. We’re so excited for what’s to come! We have a few new wholesalers joining our store for one but the best part? We’re getting ready to do our Pink It Forward Campaign with non profits all over the U.S.
After a year of taking some down time, we did some soul searching to go back to our roots and remember why this company was started to begin with. Here’s where it led us…
Thepinkstore.com was created by me, Beka Doolittle, in January 2007 as an LLC and due to life circumstances, nothing was done with it for a few years. But then, the idea for an online store to reach pink lovers all over the world became a reality as the dotcom was purchased and eventually launched in September 2011. The company has gone through the usual ups and downs of retail and as an entrepreneur, I also hit the highs and lows of running a small business. There were days I wondered what it was all for and if it truly did belong in the world wide web as a minuscule “dot”. Through it all though, I remained positive, or well, mostly if we’re being honest. 🙂
Then something big happened. Or rather a few somethings. It was like a group of people popped into my life and there they remained to help me see my company differently. It wasn’t a situation of “hey get busy or your company is going to sink” but rather it was gentle nudging with a beautiful stream of ideas to simply spur the onset of renewed energy. I began to truly dig deep into my heart and think back to the day the name of my company came to me and what I hoped would come out of it. I remember thinking it was going to have to be a passion so deep that I would wake up every morning to work for free for maybe a long time until The Pink Store grew to the place it needed to be to sustain itself and make others happy. And then, an even bigger aha moment hit me…I have a 6 year old little girl who has a personality very similar to mine and would love nothing more than to be her own boss (I can totally relate which is why I see it in her).
In that moment, another thought came to me. Not only do I want her to have this someday, and not only is our family of girls growing due to weddings and babies, but the biggest and most important part of it hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt a deep feeling to create a company that gives back. Not only does this do wonders for our economy, our non profits, and even our customers, but it provides a strong sense of family along with heart. And no business can ever be successful without heart.
So where are we going from here? Well, as we pivot, there could still be some changes but our plan is to allow our customers to donate to nonprofits of their choice within the parameters of our mission. Our mission is to “Celebrate femininity, strength, and happiness through the color pink” and to us that means supporting nonprofits such as breast cancer awareness, human trafficking awareness, and girl and women empowerment all locally and nationally. This may evolve as we grasp the concept and begin to build it and since it’s such a big vision, don’t be surprised if we reach out and ask for guidance or input now and then.
In the meantime, please take a look around our new website and get familiar with it. Be sure to check out the Survivor Stories page regularly because our first story is already in the works! If you or someone you know would be interested in sharing a survivor story that correlates to any of the above causes, please let us know. We have BIG plans for this small company and we can hardly wait to Pink It Forward!
